Internship 12/5/18

Today at our internship we got there on time and went to Mr Moody's office. We said hi and shook hands then went out in the commons to talk about the podcasts. He also taught us about supply and demand graph/curve. After that we did some research for Amify. We looked at articles about amazon and their third party sellers. I looked into different companies websites that Mr Moody emailed us, to see if it was worth investing in. At the end, Mr Moody gave us a scenario and we had to draw it as a supply and demand curve. It was confusing. Then we shook hands and said bye.

Internship 11/28/18

We got there at 9 but nobody was there. We sat at the wooden island and waited. For 30 minutes. Finally, Lilly turned up. Turns out she had a meeting to go to. Once she put all her stuff away she printed out some information on a business called Amify. It is a third party seller for Amazon. Luke and I sat in a conference room and looked up the statistics of Amazon in the US as well as some rival third-party seller for Amazon. I focused on looking for information on their rivals such as Quivr and BigFly. Bigfly was a big rival but their profit to selling ratio wasn't so well. After looking at their websites we told Lilly goodbye and went downstairs.

Mercury Fund Internship

Today we got there on time. We listened to Moody's conference call with other venture capital firms, for a few minutes. Then we looked at an email from Mr. Garrou. It gave us some links and instructions to make a slideshow about tear-down analysis. We basically had to explain the process of a tear-down for a website and product and show that we know why it is used and how it works. It is used to spot the flaws in a website and fix them and the process is a person from the venture capital company pretends to be a customer and goes through whatever process a customer would go through to get the product and learn about it. Then they would share their feedback and notes with the company and their employees and work together to fix it. So we did that for the two hours and when it was 11, we said goodbye to Moody and went downstairs to Dr. Lee.

First Day at Mercury Fund

10/31/18 We got there a bit late. Once we got there and Mr Garrou gave us a tour of the office. Very fancy. We were introduced to the head of Mercury Science and Analysis and a bunch of other employees. After the tour, Mr Garrou brought us to the small conference room to give us a lecture overview of what we will be doing and how the company works. Very detailed and a lot of info. He told us about how giving and taking the money works. It was a bit confusing but I asked a few questions to clear it up. Then Mr Moody and Ms Lilly gave us a little overview of themselves. Mr Moody went to Episcopal. Ms Lilly went to Duke (where my parents went!) to study for a double major. After a little overview they gave us a piece of paper with a few questions. For example one of the questions was: What expectations do you have coming into this internship? or Bonus: What is Lillys favorite Halloween candy and why? I got that right. It was a lot of fun and I glad for the overview they gave us because
